"Superman Returns" To VC-1!
High Def Digest reports that Warner is announcing a reissue of Superman Returns for Blu Ray, the re-release will still be using the VC-1 codec. The new release will mainly feature remastered audio, here’s what to expect:
- 1080p VC-1 on a 50GB Disc
- Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround and uncompressed PCM 5.1 Surround
- Everything on the original
This means the original release is officially discontinued, the new release will hit store shelves on September 9th.

National Geographic preps "Extreme" for Blu Ray and VC-1!
High Def Digest reports that National Geographic has just announced the IMAX feature “Extreme” for Blu Ray in November of 2008, Extreme will tout VC-1 which seems like the right choice.
Here’s what Extreme will tout:

- 1080p/VC-1
- Dolby Digital 5.1
- English, French, Spanish, subtitles

New Line Brings "Elf" to Blu Ray with VC-1!
High Def Disc News is reporting on the release of Elf on Blu Ray using VC-1! New Line (a subsidy of Warner) is planning on bringing the 2003 Will Farrell comedy to on October 28th 2008! No specs have been revealed although it can be assumed that various DVD extras will make their way onto the release. Here’s what we know so far:
- 1080p VC-1
- Dolby Digital 5.1
- BD 25
I’ll be honest, I liked elf but I don’t know if that would be enough to make me buy it on Blu Ray, it could be a “demo” film so to speak but only time will tell.

VC-1 Calls Beetlejuice this fall!
High Def Digest is reporting that Warner has finally gotten around to giving us more details about the upcoming release of Beetlejuice on Blu Ray. Since it is Warner it should be assumed that their titles will be VC-1, if you assumed then you assumed correct. Here are the specifications:
- 25GB Blu Ray disk
- 1080p/VC-1 video
- Dolby TrueHD 5.1
Special features include
- 3 episodes of the Beetlejuice cartoon (”A-Ha,” “Skeletons In The Closet,” “Spooky Boo-tique”) (running at about 30 minutes each)
- Original Theatrical Trailier
The Blu Ray itself will come with
- The Beginner’s Guide to Seeing Ghosts collectible book
- CD with 6 sample tracks from the movie
I love this movie and will definitely pick it up this August.
